Under the WFMU “Buy Crap from our Store”, was this Record Eating Cat pi-back button. The button was designed by Akira Yonekawa, only 50 produced


WFMU 91.1fm is a non-commercial, listener-supported, independent community radio station licensed to East Orange, New Jersey, with studios in Jersey City. It is owned by Auricle Communications, broadcasting a free-form radio format. The station holds periodic on-air fundraisers and seeks donation on its website. WFMU does not belong to any public broadcasting network. Most programming is done in-house by volunteer DJs.

WFMU signed on the air in April 1958. WFMU was owned by Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey, a small, independent college in the suburbs of New York City.

Kanye West - CKZZ 95.3fm : 2008 Toronto


The Glow in the Dark Tour was the third concert tour by American rapper Kanye West, in support of his third studio album, Graduation (2007).

West was supported by Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D., and Rihanna for the tour’s US leg in the spring of 2008, while he was later accompanied by acts such as Consequence and Kid Cudi across Europe. The Glow in the Dark Tour received generally positive reviews from critics, who frequently highlighted its space theme. Some praised West’s skill as a performer, although a few critics found the tour repetitive.

CKZZ-FM (95.3 MHz) Z95.3 is a commercial FM radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia. Just before midnight on June 3, 2007, “Z” played its last song, “Walk Away” by Kelly Clarkson. CKZZ then began stunting by playing a mix of comedy/novelty songs, TV show and movie themes. At 7:00 a.m. on June 5, the station was renamed 95 Crave, and relaunched with a more rhythmic-leaning adult top 40 format. The first song was “Music” by Madonna.

In October 2007, Astral Media acquired Standard Broadcasting’s terrestrial radio and television assets, including CKZZ. On January 8, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., CKZZ rebranded as 95.3 Virgin Radio, joining sister station CKFM-FM Toronto.

Horror Host: Svengoolie - MeTV


Svengoolie is an American hosted horror movie television program. The show features horror and science fiction films and is hosted by the character Svengoolie, who was originally played by Jerry G. Bishop from 1970 to 1973, before Rich Koz succeeded him in the role from 1979 on. Before and after commercial breaks, Svengoolie presents sketches, tells jokes, and performs parody songs related to the films being aired. The show is a long-running local program in the Chicago area and in recent years expanded nationally, airing Saturday nights on MeTV.

MeTV had a great display at NY Comic Con, especially devoted to Svengoolie who is retiring as a horror show host on the network. He made several appearances during the weekend.

Ralston Sharp Shooters : c 1940s


1-inch Tom Mix Ralston Straight Shooters Club

Tom Mix was one of the great American popular cowboys, and he was one who was a real cowboy, too! Tom was the perfect western hero, with his “wonder horse” Tony, and TM-Bar Ranch, where he lived with his young wards, Jane and Jimmy, along with his elderly sidekick and ranch hand. Since it was a Ralston Purina sponsored radio show, it constantly featured super prizes and premiums that all kids would want! They were part of the Straight Shooter Club. 

Tom Mix Ralston Straight Shooters began airing on NBC September 25, 1933, for 15 minutes three times a week at either 5, 5:15 or 5:30 until March 26, 1937. Tom Mix never appeared on the show

J.P. Patches – KIRO-TV


J. P. Patches (Julius Pierpont Patches) was a clown and the star of The J. P. Patches Show, an Emmy Award-winning local children’s television show premiered on Seattle station KIRO-TV February 10, 1958, and was produced from 1958 to 1981. The character and show were created by Seattle children’s entertainer Chris Wedes (1928–2012). When it left the air in 1981, The J. P. Patches Show was one of the longest-running locally produced children’s television programs in the United States.
During the golden age of television it was common to have an adult host a children’s show filled with cartoons, puppets, games, prizes as a main part of local programming. Many oif these shows were never seen outside of their broadcasting area.
