Stop Shockley : 1973

 1,5-inch  and  2.25-inch

Dr William Shockley is a Nobel Prize winning physicist. He and three others were awarded the prize for their research on semiconductors and their discovery of the transistor effect.
But this was not what brought Shockley to college campuses in 1973. Shockley believed in heredity rather than environment on the disadvantaged position of blacks in society. With his views and opinions protected by the First amendment, Shockley went on tour of colleges to debate with several noted members of the black community.

Harvard recently cancelled his scheduled debate with Roy Innis of CORE, because of student protests against Shockley and his views. At Dartmouth students prevented Shockley from speaking by applauding continuously during his appearance

A scheduled appearance with Shockley at Staten Island Community College saw students protesting the appearance as well. The above buttons come from that protest.
