The Big Apple Circus is based in New York City. Opened in 1977, later becoming a nonprofit organization. The circus has been known for its community outreach programs, including Clown Care, as well as its humane treatment of animals.

The Monkees

The Monkees were an American pop rock band, formed in Los Angeles in the mid-1960s, whose lineup consisted of Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork. One of the most commercially successful bands of the late 1960s, the group was conceived in 1965 by television producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the NBC situation comedy series of the same name. Music credited to the band was released on LP, as well as being included in the show, which aired from 1966 to 1968

Discworld is a comic fantasy book series written by Terry Pratchett, set on the Discworld, a flat planet balanced on the backs of four elephants which in turn stand on the back of a giant turtle. The series began in 1983 with The Colour of Magic and continued until the final novel The Shepherd’s Crown was published in 2015, following Pratchett’s death.

Wilmer "Vinegar Bend" Mizell Sr. (1930 – 1999) American baseball player and politician. From 1952 to 1962, he was a left-handed pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets of Major League Baseball. Six years after retiring, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives from North Carolina's 5th congressional district. He served three terms as a Republican from 1969 to 1975.
Cap Anson - 3/4-inch - c1905 Cap Anson For Sheriff baseball lapel pin. Cap Anson was first baseman for the White Stockings which later became the Chicago Cubs. In 1907 he ran for Cook County Sheriff. Enshrined in Cooperstown for racking up more than 3000 hits, “Cap” Anson won a race for Chicago City Clerk in 1905, but was blown out in a race for sheriff the following year, failing to win even the primary.

Albert Benjamin "Happy" Chandler Sr. (1898 – 1991) was an American politician from Kentucky. He represented Kentucky in the U.S. Senate and served as its 44th and 49th governor. Aside from his political positions, he also served as the second commissioner of baseball from 1945 to 1951 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.

Floyd Vivino, also known as Uncle Floyd, is an American television, film, and stage performer primarily known for his comedy/variety TV show The Uncle Floyd Show (1974–1998). The show aired in New Jersey and New York from 1974 to 1998. It can be read as a children’s show or a parody of a children’s show. Much of the humor has a twist aimed at adults, in the style of Soupy Sales and Pee Wee Herman. The show featured character comedy, puppetry, some audience participation, musical guests, and Floyd’s piano playing. Uncle Floyd’s most popular sidekicks was a puppet named Oogie.

Local bands such as The Smithereens, The Shades, and R. Stevie Moore, along with such well-known performers as The Ramones, Tiny Tim, Benny Bell, Bon Jovi, Jan and Dean, Peter Tork, Squeeze, David Johansen, Blue Öyster Cult, Joe Jackson, and Cyndi Lauper appeared on Floyd’s program.
